How to create Faux Room Mic Tracks

I was writing music the other day using drum samples. That means I didn't have any room mic tracks.

The idea of a room mic track is - crudely speaking - a darker, more lush version of the overall kit sound. It's used to add perception and body/low end to the drum bus.

So I tried recreating all of that with:

  1. LPF & EQ: To simulate the warmth

  2. Compressor: To enhance punch

  3. Pre-delay settings on reverb: To simulate the time it takes the sound waves to reach the room mics.
